playful eating

Have you ever found yourself sitting in front of the TV or computer, eating a meal and then looking down onto your plate wondering what the heck happened to it? Somehow life’s other “priorities” take away from the eating experience and prevent us from nourishing ourselves. Sometimes we don’t make the time to eat. Other times we just plain forget. When we do eat, often we don’t enjoy the experience because we are distracted or stressed. We find ourselves eating too much, too quickly and not finding pleasure in our food.

When we are stressed, our bodies naturally puts more energy into preparing us for “fight or flight.” This means our bodies aren’t focused on digestion. Think about it. If there was a bear in front of you, would you be able to sit down and enjoy your favorite meal? Of course not! Just remember, your body doesn’t know the difference between a bear and your boss, workload, family obligations, traffic, finances or other stressors in your life. This is why it is so important to not only be mindful of what you eat, but be playful with how you eat. One of the most important aspects of health that Kim works on with her clients in their journeys to more energy, vitality and fun is  playful eating.
